On August 27, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on US Hwy 311, Sophia. The driver was identified as Steven Dwayne Hartman. During a subsequent search, methamphetamine and paraphernalia were located. Hartman was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of methamphetamine and two counts of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He received a $5,000 secured bond with a first appearance set for August 28, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
