On January 16, 2025, Randolph County Sheriff’s Detention Center Staff located a controlled substance in the possession of Richard Kimrey Mitchell, Jr., during the booking process. Following the investigation, charges were sought against Mitchell for felony possession of a controlled substance in a prison/jail and the magistrate found probable cause for the charge. He was served the warrant and issued a $5,000 secured bond and a court date was set for January 17, 2024, in Randolph County District Court.
