On January 17, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to NC Hwy 22/42, Ramseur, in reference to a request for a citizen assist. While en route, deputies gathered information regarding the call. Melanie Annette Minery, who had been trespassed from the property in November 2024, was there at that time and believed to be intoxicated.
Upon arrival at the address, deputies observed Minery in the backyard of the residence. After an initial approach and explanation for why they were there, she resisted and attempted to run from deputies but was apprehended and placed under arrest. During the investigation, it was determined she had been inside the residence as well. She was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony breaking and or entering, felony larceny after breaking and or entering, domestic criminal trespassing, and misdemeanor resisting a public officer. She was issued no bond due to the domestic nature of the crime. A first appearance was set for January 21, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
