On January 23, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Albemarle Rd., Asheboro, in reference to fraud. During the investigation, the victim was provided evidence that a suspect had used his financial card at the business. He had originally lost the card and began getting fraudulent charges on the card. Deputies were able to identify the suspect using the card as Mary Jane Spivey and charges were sought for felony financial card theft and felony obtain property by false pretense and the magistrate found probable cause to issue a warrant for arrest.
On January 25, 2025, Spivey was located, arrested, and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where he was served the warrant. He was issued a $2,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for January 27, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
