On December 18, 2024, while conducting an investigation, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Team Urban Unit Detectives received information that Zebediaz Robert Cox had obtained a 2024 Polaris RZR from a business in Virginia and had written a fraudulent check to make the purchase. Detectives went to the residence of Cox in an attempt to locate the Polaris RZR, however it was not located.
On December 21, 2024, after further investigation, Detectives discovered that the Polaris RZR was traded for a Moomba Wake Boat and was located in Fuquay-Varina. Detectives recovered the Polaris RZR, and also recovered the boat, which had been subsequently sold and was located in Wilkes County.
On January 16, 2025, charges were sought against Zebediaz Robert Cox for two counts of felony obtain property by false pretense. The magistrate found probable cause and issued a warrant for arrest.
On January 24, 2025, Cox was apprehended in Vance County, where he was served with his warrant for arrest. He was issued a $100,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for January 28, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
