On February 24, 2025, Randolph County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Unity St., and Arden Rd., Thomasville. Upon investigation, the driver was identified as Makahla Danielle Slycord, who had two orders for arrest and a suspended driver's license. She was placed under arrest. The passenger, identified as Ladonna Fay Belton, also did not have a valid driver's license, therefore, towing of the vehicle was necessary. While conducting an inventory search for vehicle towing, methamphetamine and paraphernalia were located belonging to Belton.
Both were transported to the Randolph County Detention Center.
The magistrate found probable cause for misdemeanor driving while license revoked as well as an expired registration tag against Slycord. She was also served her outstanding orders for arrest for failure to appear on felony and misdemeanor charges. She was issued a $7,000 total secured bond and a first appearance was set for February 24, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
The magistrate found probable cause for the misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia against Belton. During the booking process, Belton was found to be in possession of Methamphetamine. Due to this, she was also charged with felony possession of a controlled substance on jail premises and felony possession of methamphetamine. She was issued a $5,000 secured bond and first appearance was set for February 24, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
