On November 13, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Quail Creek Dr., Franklinville, in reference to a larceny/theft.
On March 18, 2025, NC Alcohol Law Enforcement (NC ALE) reported locating a firearm during their investigation that had been reported stolen on November 13th. Dashawn Antonio Chappel was in possession of it at the time of locating it. A charge was sought for felony possession of a stolen firearm and the magistrate found probable cause to issue the warrant. Chappell was currently confined in the Randolph County Detention Center on charges from NC ALE and was served the warrant. He was issued a $1,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for March 24, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
