On May 14, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to an Woodfield Dr., Sophia, in reference to an assault in progress.
Upon arrival, the victim was located, but the assailant had left the residence. Randolph County EMS responded for evaluation. Additional responding deputies located the assailant, identified as Tahj Antonio McGriff, near the residence and detained him. He had an outstanding fugitive warrant for felony grand larceny out of South Carolina.
Following the investigation, McGriff was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for misdemeanor assault on a female, misdemeanor injury to real property. Due to the charges being domestic in nature, he was held on a 48-hour hold with no bond. A first appearance was set for May 15, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
