On May 12, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Wright Road, Thomasville, in reference to an armed person. Upon arrival, the complaint advised that Ashley Nicole Helton had stolen firearms and walked into the woods behind the residence. Deputies were not able to locate Helton at that time. Information and evidence were collected.
Charges were sought against Helton, and the magistrate found probable cause to issue a warrant for arrest for two counts of felony larceny of a firearm, two counts of felony possession of a stolen firearm, and felony break / enter motor vehicle with theft.
On May 20, 2025, Helton was located, arrested, and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where she was served the warrant. The magistrate also found probable cause for misdemeanor resisting a public officer. She was given no bond due to being out on pre-trial release. A first appearance was set for May 21, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
