On July 1, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Moffitt St., Ramseur, in reference to a larceny/theft that had already occurred. Upon arrival, the victim provided information about the stolen items from the business. Property owners in the area were able to provide video evidence for the investigation. A short time later, the suspect was identified as Steven William Martin.
Martin was later located on Sycamore Trail, and one of the stolen items was found in a shed on the property. An item from an unrelated incident was also recovered.
Martin was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony larceny, misdemeanor damage to personal property, and misdemeanor altering a serial number. Mr. Martin was placed in secure custody on a mandatory 48-hour hold due to already being released on bail. A first appearance is scheduled for July 3, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
