On July 20, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to northbound I-73, Randleman, in reference to discharging a firearm. Upon locating the reported vehicle, a traffic stop was conducted. The driver was identified as Joseph Daniel Allred. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, deputies located a firearm that was still warm to the touch. The rounds found at the initial location of the incident matched the ones that were still in the magazine.
Allred was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony discharge of a firearm into an enclosure, misdemeanor go armed to terrorize people, two counts of misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of misdemeanor assault by pointing a gun, and misdemeanor carrying a concealed gun. He received a $25,000 secured bond, and a first appearance was set for July 21, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
