On August 5, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Team Urban Unit conducted an investigative stop on a vehicle near Randolph Church Rd. and Hollow Hill Rd., Liberty. The passenger in the vehicle, Zebediaz Robert Cox, had multiple outstanding warrants for arrest out of Alamance, Guilford, and Montgomery Counties. Cox was also a wanted person out of South Carolina and Virginia.
Cox was taken into custody and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center. He was served with his arrest warrants, including the Governor's Warrant from South Carolina, and was not eligible for bond due to the Pretrial Integrity Act. He was also charged as a Fugitive of Justice related to unserved charges from Virginia and was granted a $100,000 secured bond.
