On August 19, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on NC Hwy 62 and Colonial Circle. During the investigative stop, it was discovered that the passenger, identified as Diane Michelle Duffy, had an active Order For Arrest for failure to appear and was taken into custody.
During a subsequent search, illegal substances and paraphernalia were located. The driver, James Robert Williams, Jr., was also arrested. They were transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for the charges as follows:
Duffy - felony possession of heroin, felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. She received no bond and has a first appearance on August 20, 2025, in Randolph County District Court. She was also served with her order for arrest and received a $15,000 secured bond.
Williams – felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He received a $5,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for August 20, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
