On May 27, 2024, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to US Hwy 220 Bus. S., in reference to an attempted escape by a prisoner at a Department of Corrections facility. While making rounds, a corrections officer observed an inmate, identified as Ronnie Stephen Fulcher, attempting to climb over the fence; however was caught in the razor wire. The inmate came down when ordered, although it took a few moments due to being stuck in the wire.
Charges were sought for felony attempted escape from prison, and the magistrate found probable cause and issued a criminal summons.
Upon release from prison, Fulcher was served his criminal summons on October 4, 2025, and was scheduled to appear in Randolph County District Court on October 13, 2025. He failed to appear, and an order for arrest has been issued. Fulcher has a history in the Raleigh/Garner area of NC.
