On October 17, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office received information via the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office and the victim in reference to cattle being stolen from Royal Ridge Rd, Ramseur. They were later sold at the stockyard in Chatham County.
Following an investigation, charges were sought against Randall Ray Burgess and Zachary Banks Todd for felony larceny of cattle, and the magistrate found probable cause to issue the warrant.
On October 21, 2025, both were located, arrested, and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where they were served their warrant.
The magistrate issued Burgess a $20,000 secured bond, and a first appearance was set for October 22, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
Todd was also served a warrant out of Chatham County for felony obtain property by false pretense, felony identity theft, and felony possession of stolen goods/property related to this incident. No bond was given because he was out on pre-trial release.
