On December 3, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to an agency assist with Asheboro Police Department in reference to attempting to stop a vehicle speeding. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop for Asheboro units and continued to flee South on I73.
Deputies encountered the vehicle on I73 south of Dixie Drive and a began pursuit. Upon reaching exit 68, the driver lost control of the vehicle and came to rest on the corner of the exit ramp and New Hope Church Rd. The suspect quickly exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot through the wooded area to the right of the exit ramp but surrendered to commands and was apprehended.
Asheboro units arrived on scene to question the suspect in reference to the initial attempted stop. At this time the suspect was identified as Jayvion Davis Morgan, of Bennettsville, South Carolina. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for felony flee/elude arrest with a motor vehicle, misdemeanor no operator’s license, misdemeanor speeding, misdemeanor reckless driving- wanton disregard, fail maintain lane control, and unsafe movement. He was issued a $25,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for December 3, 2025, in Randolph County District Court.
