On January 6, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Uwharrie Rd., Archdale in reference to a larceny of a four-wheeler that had already occurred. Security footage was reviewed from the business, and an unknown subject was observed driving the four-wheeler inside the fenced in area damaging a fence on the property.
Following an investigation by the Criminal Interdiction Team Urban Unit, charges were sought against Thomas Julian Hodgin for felony larceny, felony possession of stolen goods/property, misdemeanor first-degree trespassing enter/remain and misdemeanor injury to real property. The magistrate found probable cause and issued a warrant for arrest.
On January 9, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Garren Town Rd., Asheboro, in reference to an active larceny. During the investigation, deputies were able to obtain security footage of the suspect and began to search the wooded area in the direction in which he was reported to have left on foot. They observed the suspect and he began to flee. He was apprehended a short time later and taken into custody. He was identified as Thomas Julian Hodgin. He also was able to direct deputies to the location where he stored the items that he stole from Dollar General.
Hodgin was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where the magistrate found probable cause for misdemeanor resisting public officer and misdemeanor larceny. He received a $20,000 secured bond. He was also served his outstanding warrant from the January 6th incident. He received a $31,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for January 12, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.
