On January 2, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on US-64 eastbound near Vaughn York Road, Ramseur. The driver was identified as Henry Lowry. During the investigation, it was discovered that Lowry had an outstanding warrant out of Anson County for Felony Injury to Wire and was placed under arrest.
Upon inspecting the truck bed of the vehicle, multiple pieces of telecommunication equipment were discovered, several of which had orange AT&T asset tags. Following discussions with the Anson County Sheriff's Office and an AT&T Investigator, it was suspected that the equipment had been stolen from AT&T cellular sites.
At the request of the Anson County Sheriff's Office, the vehicle was towed to a secure location while they obtained a search warrant for the vehicle.
Lowry was transported to the Randolph County Detention Center, where he was served his outstanding warrant and was issued a $3,000 secured bond. A court date was set for January 9, 2026, in Anson County District Court.
On January 5, 2026, Anson County and Randolph County Sheriff’s Offices executed the search warrant. The contents of the truck were removed, inventoried, and then examined by AT&T representatives, who found that the equipment had come from facilities in Cabarrus County and Asheboro. The stolen telecommunications equipment recovered was estimated to be valued at around $92,300.
This investigation is ongoing.
