On February 18, 2026, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Weant Road, Archdale, in reference to a domestic disturbance. A short time later an additional call for service was generated due to a residential fire. Responding deputies made contact with fire personnel on scene and subsequently inquired about the location of the resident(s). After a brief search of the area, Walton was located in a nearby outbuilding and was later transported by EMS for medical evaluation. Following the investigation, Debra Thomas Walton was charged with felony second-degree arson and four counts of cruelty to animals.
On February 23, 2026, Walton was arrested in Guilford County and transported to the Guilford County Detention Center, where she was served with the warrant for arrest. Walton received a $75,000 secured bond, and a court date was set for March 16, 2026, in Randolph County District Court.
