On August 15, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on US Hwy 311 in Sophia. The driver was identified as Michael Lee Kennedy, whose driver’s license had been suspended for driving while license revoked.
During a subsequent search, methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana and paraphernalia were located. Kennedy was arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where the magistrate found probable cause for felony possession of methamphetamine, felony possession of cocaine, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia and misdemeanor driving while license revoked. He was issued a $10,000 secured bond and a first appearance was set for August 16, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
