On August 20, 2023, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to Mountain View Church Road in Asheboro in reference to an assault that had occurred earlier on Meadow Lark Ln., Sophia. The victim reported initially allowing William Chase Conrad to drive a vehicle. When the victim requested to the vehicle keys be returned, Conrad refused and an argument ensued that led to Conrad reportedly assaulting the victim. Conard transported the victim to another location but left with the vehicle.
Randolph County EMS respond to evaluate the victim’s injuries and subsequently transported her to an area hospital for further evaluation and treatment as the injuries were consistent with the reported assault.
Charges were sought against Conrad for (F) Assault by Strangulation, (M) Assault on a Female, and (M) Injury to Personal Property and the magistrate found probable cause to issue a warrant for arrest.
On August 21, 2023, Conrad was located by the Criminal Apprehension Team, arrested and transported to the Randolph County Detention Center where he was served his outstanding warrant. Bond was denied due to the charges being domestic in nature. A first appearance was set for August 22, 2023, in Randolph County District Court.
